So quiet you could hear a pin drop..

That’s how things will probably be around these parts for the foreseeable future.

I’m taking a break from blogging.. not sure how long it will be. I plan to not be blogging regularly at least through the school year. If I find I have time, and the mental capacity to do so, I may do monthly updates. But no guarantees.

I’ve reached the end of my rope. I’ve had it. I am a horrid housekeeper even when I’m actually trying to keep up with it. And I haven’t even been trying lately. I am supposed to be home schooling my kids. But I’m not. Even our teacher realized by the end of last year why the kids are so behind – “It seems to me that they might just not be getting enough work offered to them..”

So, it is time for me to remove my head from my ass and try to get my shit together.

I’m sure I will still be around on Twitter. So, if you’re not already, you can follow me there.

Um.. so.. yeah. Bye!

Pancake Saturday!

Here in the ChurchPunkHouse, nearly every Saturday is pancake Saturday. Aman is usually the one manning the stove, flipping the fluffy flapjacks. He enjoys experimenting with the batter, adding different ingredients and frequently letting the kids guess what they are when they eat. We start with a complete pancake mix, and then add water and whatever other cooky ingredients we’re in the mood for. A couple weeks ago, he decided to make coconut cream pancakes.

Coconut milk is lovely stuff.

I? Am a spoiled brat. I sit on a stool in the kitchen like a 7yo kid at grandma’s house and get to taste the pancakes before anyone else does. Of course, that privilege also comes with the duty of wrestling with the toddler and reminding all the other shorties to not come in the kitchen while Dad’s flipping. Safety first, and all.

Top pancakes with extra creamy ReddiWip and sprinkle with coconut..

See? I told you I’m spoiled.

August 019Of course, Pancake Saturday is not just about eating a yummy breakfast. We tend to eat later on Saturdays because of it, but it works out well, because we will often run errands on that day as well, this interferes with our normal lunch and nap times.. so the late start actually benefits us. But, more importantly, any meal that brings our whole family to the table is a good one. And eating pancakes on Saturday morning together is something everyone looks forward to.
